英文摘要 | Neutron stars are endowed with the strongest magnetic field in the observable universe. After reviewing recent observations and theoretical progress on various magnetized neutron stars (including radio pulsars and magnetars), the speaker will focus on the polarization properties of X-ray emission from highly magnetized neutron stars. He will discuss how X-ray polarization may be used to constrain neutron star magnetic field (surface field strength and geometry), probe strong-field quantum electrodynamics, and possibly provide constraints on the physical properties of theoretically-postulated pseudo-scalar particles (axions). |
