中文摘要 | At superhigh energy the cross sections for bremsstrahlung and pair creation are suppressed in dense media. This density effect is called the Landau--Pomeranchuk--Migdal effect (LPM effect). It is due to multiple Coulomb scattering by neighboring atoms. K.Kasahara put Monte-Carlo calculation to LPM effect in the Pb emulsion chamber, and published his results in 1984, the behavior of cascade showers, especially the width of the transition curve [full width at half maximum (FWHM)] in the 100--Tev region observed in Pb emulsion chambers, is compared with results of Monte-Carlo calculation in his paper. In this paper, we measured the superhigh energy single spots in Fe emulsion chambers obtained by the group of China--Japan EC Collabration on Mt. Kanbala, carried on the experimental examination to the LPM effect and also to the simulation results of K.Kasahara. At present, the standard distinguishing hardons and gammarays in emulsion chambers is Δ t c = 6.0 c.u.. The defect of this standard is that many hardons (about 69 percent of the total hardons) are misjudged as gamma-rays. In this paper, we made a rty to use the ΔLc = 2 σ standard and Δt c = 6.0 c.u. standard simultaneously to distingulsh hardons and gamma-rays in emulsion chambers. |
