英文摘要The 12.2-GHz 20-3-1 transition of CH3OH has been mapped over the continuum source Sgr B2 with a 2-arcmin beam. Strong absorption was observed from three molecular clouds at velocities near 50, 65 and 80 km s-1; the line-to-continuum ratios attained maximum values of 0.70, 0.75 and 0.45 for these clouds. In addition, maser emission was detected near the location of the southernmost H2CO masers. The CH3OH absorption characteristics for these clouds, for foreground clouds near zero velocity, and for the 40 km s-1 cloud towards Sgr A, are all similar to those observed for the 14.5 GHz transition of H2CO. The column densities, however, are about an order of magnitude higher for CH3OH than for H2CO.
