BL Eridani: An unstable W UMa system with spotted components

| 英文摘要 | New complete BV light curves of BL Eri have been obtained. Light curve variability and asymmetry are seen in the photoelectric observations in both B and V bands, and times of minimum light indicate evidence to support the existence of period changes. The light curves are analysed by using the light curve synthesis method and the present photometric solution reveals that BL Eri is a contact binary with a common convective envelope. An examination of the available photometric and spectroscopic data indicates that the light curve variability may be due to radius changes of the components and the light curve asymmetry may be consistent with starspot activity on one or both components. |
