英文摘要this paper concentrates on the new nonlinear optical phenomena generated under the femtosecond laser irradiation. generally, the laser power density is around 10(10)w/cm(2) (1mj/cm(2) at 100femtosecond) without focusing, and could be 10(12)w/cm(2) with self-focusing process. although the laser power density is lower than the internal atomic field (similar to10(16)w/cm(2)) and the electron movement is still bonded to the internal atomic field, some processes, such as multi-photon absorption, multi-photon ionization, optical kerr effect as well as tunnel ionization in glass, are much easier to occur. in this paper, the phenomena of photo-induced refractive index change, photoinduced darkening, photo-induced phase change, as well as photo-induced second harmonic generation in glass under irradiation of femtosecond laser are introduced, the related interaction mechanisms are also discussed.
