外腔半导体激光器及其稳频技术的研究

中文摘要单频窄线宽高频率稳定性的外腔半导体激光器在激光器冷却原子实验和原子频率及时间标准等领域具有广泛的应用,因此研究外腔半导体激光器及其稳频技术具有十分重要的学术意义和实用价值。本论文工作以冷原子物理研究为应用目标,围绕外腔半导体激光器及其稳频技术而展开,包括以下几个方面的工作: 基于Littman式外腔结构并结合饱和吸收光谱技术,设计并完成了一套外腔半导体激光器及其稳频系统,系统输出波长可在780.2nm附近调谐,输出功率大于27mW,输出线宽小于3MHz,无跳模的调谐范围为22GHz。采用波长调制光谱稳频技术,激光器输出频率可以锁定在Rb原子的饱和吸收峰的精细结构上,短期频率稳定性小于1MHz,不失锁时间大于12小时。这套外腔加稳频系统已经用在了激光冷却Rb原子的实验中,并成功地得到了冷原子的实验结果。 研究了外腔半导体激光器的不稳定性,实验得到了一种外腔半导体激光器中的新的不稳定性现象,对这一现象进行了定性的分析。 对光栅反馈外腔半导体激光器的偏振特性进行了研究,以改善外腔激光器的偏振特性和输出功率特性,得到了线偏振和椭圆偏振两种偏振状态激光输出,对光栅的偏振特性进行了详细的测量,发现衍射光栅会极大的改变激光器的偏振特性。 提出了一种基于Sagnac环的激光器的无调制稳频方案,这种无调制稳频方法具有结构简单、稳定性好、对于外界干扰不敏感等优点
英文摘要Single-frequency, narrow-linewidth, high frequency stability external cavity diode laser (ECDL) has many applications in laser cooling experiment, atomic time or frequency standard. So it has both great academic significance and practical value to study external cavity diode laser and its frequency stabilization technology. This dissertation is mainly focused on external cavity diode laser (ECDL) and its frequency stabilization technology for the application in the laser cooling area, and the main contents are as follows: Based on Littman configuration and saturation spectrum method, an ECDL and its frequency stabilization system is constructed. The output wavelength is around 780.2nm, output power >27mW, linewidth <3MHz, mode-hope free tuning >22GHz. Using the wavelength modulation frequency stabilization method, the output frequency can be locked on the saturation peaks of the Rubidium, the frequency fluctuation is below 1MHz in short term and the frequency can be locked tightly for about 12hours. This ECDL and the frequency stabilization system is used in the laser cooling experiment and successfully get the cooled Rubidium atom. The stability characteristic of this ECDL is investigated experimentally. A new instability phenomenon is found in this ECDL. Qualitative explanation is given. The polarization characteristic of this ECDL is also studied to improve the polarization and power performance of this laser. Both elliptical polarized (EP) and linear polarized (LP) can be obtained from this ECDL. The polarization characteristic of the grating is measured thoroughly. Experimental results indicate that the grating can greatly change the polarization characteristic of the laser. A modulation-free laser stabilization method using a Sagnac loop is proposed. This modulation-free method is very simple, stable and very robust against the interference of the circumstance.
