The particle size distributions (PSDs) of soil and associated sediment are of fundamental importance in studying soil erosion dynamics and related environmental issues. However, detailed information on the variation of sediment size distributions within the erosion-delivery continuum and the effects of particle size selectivity on the size distribution of the sediment involved are absent and are urgently needed.
