An Implementation of Low-power____ Data Transmission based on the Time Synchronization

英文摘要 | Data transmission is a critical component in the operation of wireless sensor network (WSN). The sensor nodes always need to transmit the sample data to the center station (sink node) in many applications. But for the limited resource of energy, processing ability, memory, etc, how to extend the lifetime of WSN faces a great challenge. Therefore, it has recently become a hotspot. Due to this problem, firstly, we propose a simple time synchronization algorithm for wireless sensor networks. And then we present an energy efficient data transmission protocol which is based on the time synchronization algorithm mentioned above. In this proposed method, sensor nodes will transmit their data only in the active mode periodically. When they do not need to sample data or transmit data, the will go into the sleeping mode in order to reduce the energy consumption. Experimental result shows that the proposed method can greatly extend the lifetime of wireless sensor network. We describe our implementation of these mechanisms on the Mica2 motes and evaluate the performance of our implementation. |
