英文摘要 | Background, Motivation and Objective Comparing to the traditional plane-wave imaging method with only one sonication, multi-angle coherent plane-wave compounding imaging based on delay-and-sum (DAS-CPC) can achieve much better resolution and contrast, at the cost of lower frame rate. In IUS2015, we have proposed a simplified time-domain beamforming method for plane-wave imaging based on compressive sensing (CS). Its image quality is much better than DAS but still not as good as DAS-CPC. Logically, we hypothesized that CS-based CPC imaging (CS-CPC) can achieve similar image quality as DAS-CPC but with less sonications. Statement of Contribution/Methods The hypothesis was verified on two simulated phantoms with Matlab and Field II. The transducer was define as 128 elements linear array with a centre frequency of 5MHz, the pitch is 0.25mm, the sampling frequency is 50MHz, the sound speed is 1540m/s. Images on point scatterers were obtained with single-DAS, DAS-CPC with 19 angles and CS-CPC with 19 angles. And images on bright and dark balls were obtained with single-DAS, DAS-CPC with 21 angles and CS-CPC with 11 angles. Results/Discussion Images on point scatterers are shown in Fig. 1(a)(b)(c). The axial and lateral profiles obtained on these images are shown in Fig. 1(d)(e). In axial direction, the main lobe widths (MLW) of DAS and DAS-CPC are almost the same, and that of CS-CPC is only slightly smaller. However, in lateral direction, the MLW of CS-CPC is apparently narrower than the other ones, which means its lateral resolution is much better. It can be also found that its lateral contrast is also better than DAS-CPC with the same compounding angles, as the difference between its peak and base line is much larger. Images on bright and dark balls are shown in Fig. 1(f)(g)(h) and the profiles are shown in Fig. 1(i)(j). Obviously, this time there is little difference can be found between DAS-CPC and CS-CPC. However, CS-CPC achieves similar image quality as DAS-CPC with only half of the compounding angles, which has verified our hypothesis. |
