Cervical Cancerous Region Detection: A Pilot Study on Color Space

英文摘要Cancerous region detection and identification on medical images is an important technique in computer assisted diagnosis system. However, there is not a common opinion about whether the color spaces can affect the performance and which color space is the best choice to do this task. Therefore, we have studied 10 of the most commonly used color spaces—RGB, CMY, CIE-XYZ, CIE-xyY, UVL, UPVPL, NTSC, HSI, HSV and YCbCr. Cancerous region on cervical images have been detected using spectral matting algorithm. Results of 10 color models and their pseudo-color images have been presented. We have compared at level pixel of each color model by using ROC curves. According to the obtained results, the most appropriate color space for detecting cancer area for cervical images is CIE-XYZ model.
