Smart methylene blue nanoprobe for imaging-guided cancer photodynamic therapy

英文摘要 | Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a clinically approved therapeutic modality for the treatment various diseases including cancers. In the present study, we designed a reduction-responsive nanoplatform (BSA-MB NPs) for PDT. Our study indicated that BSA-MB NPs efficiently induced ROS. Meanwhile, BSA-MB NPs had a high accumulation with tumor-to-normal tissue ratio of 36.12 ± 5.12 at 24 h, where the tumor and normal tissue were clearly identified via MB-based in vivo near-infrared (NIR) fluorescence and photoacoustic dual-modal imaging. After an intravenous injection of BSA-MBNPs followed by photodynamic therapy (660 nm, 150 mW/cm2 for 30 min), the tumor was completely suppressed, and no tumor recurrence and treatments-induced toxicity were observed. The results suggest that BSA-MB NPs generated by programmed assembly are smart theranostic nanoplatforms for imagingguided cancer PDT. We believe that the unique treatment modality could further the therapeutic efficiency of PDT and provide novel opportunities in tumor therapy field. |
