Response of Soil Microbe Quantity and Active Carbon in Wetland to CO2 Elevation during Growth Phase

英文摘要An experiment was carried out with different treatments in nitrogen supply (0, 5, 15 g.m(-2)) and CO2 level (350 vs 700 mu mol.mol(-1)) in the OTCs (open top chamber) to investigate soil microbe quantity and active carbon in wetland of Sanjiang Plain. The results showed that the response of soil organic carbon to elevated CO2 was slight, but there was a definite increase in all the active carbon pools with different nitrogen level on exposure to elevated CO2 concentration during the growth phase, except LBC with high nitrogen supply. Higher microbe quantity was also found under elevated CO2 concentration. Bacteria and fungi quantity had increased by 13.51% and 21.0% respectively. In, addition, elevated CO2 concentration increased aboveground and belowground biomass of Calamagrostis angustifolia, especially under ample nitrogen fertilization application. Baterial and fungi quantity showed strong relativity with plant biomass. Regression analysis also indicated MBC, DOC and CHC had strong relationship with biomass, especially with belowground biomass. Increased soil microbe quantity and active organic carbon were presumedly due to belowground biomass and root secretion enhancement under elevated CO2.
