实时MPEG-2编码器的研究与实现

中文摘要随着电子技术和计算机技术的发展,视频和音频技术也进入了数字化的阶段。视频与音频信号的压缩和解压缩是这一领域的核心技术之一。MPEG-2标准作为高质量视频与音频的压缩和解压缩算法,已经广泛地应用于电视会议系统、数字卫星广播、VOD、DVD等各个方面。本文系统地介绍了一种基于MPEG-2标准的“实时MPEG-2编码器的研究与实现”。它包括视频压缩、音频压缩和PowerPC控制三个部分。视频压缩部分采用IBM的MPEG-2视频编码芯片(MPEGME30),对运动图象 I、P、B三帧压缩编码。其输出码流符合MPEG-2标准的主类/主级(MP@ML),码率在400~40Mbps之间可调,最大分辨率为720*576(PAL制)或720*480(NTSC制),支持RGB或YUV4:2:2、YUV4:2:0三种彩色格式。视频压缩部分由视频输入单元、视频压缩单元、压缩数据输出单元和逻辑控制单元四个部分组成,其输出码流为符合MPEG-2标准的视频原始流(Elementary Stream, ES)。音频压缩部分采用TMS320C31实现音频信号的软件压缩。利用DSP的快速运算能力,实现音频压缩编码过程中的子带滤波和听觉掩蔽计算,输出的码流符合音频MPEG层2标准。控制部分采用IBM的PowerPC作主控CPU。一方面,PowerPC控制着整个系统的启动、运行及停止;另一方面,PowerPC完成对视频和音频的复用,合成符合MPEG-2标准的传送流(Transport Stream, TS)。系统启动后,PowerPC分别从视频编码器和音频编码器中提取原始流,并在原始流前加上时间信息 PTS(Presentation Time Stamp)和DTS(Decode Time Stamp),形成PES(Packetized Elementary Stream)包;对音频和视频的PES包,PowerPC分别把它们分割成长度为188字节的TS包;同时,PowerPC获取编码器的系统时间PCR(Program Clock Reference),并以一定的时间时隔TS包中;最后,PowerPC把视频和音频的TS包均匀交织,送至传送流并行输出接口。本文重点介绍了编码器的硬件结构和视频与音频的软件复用过程;同时,介绍了运动图象及其伴音的压缩编码标准- MPEG-2标准;最后,展望了数字压缩编码技术的应用前景。
英文摘要With the development of electronics and computer technology, the era of digital video and audio is coming now. Being a key technique of signal compression and decompression, MPEG-2 is widely applied into high quality TV conference, DVB, VOD, DVD etc. In this dissertation, we develop a real-time stand-alone MPEG-2 encoder based on the MPEG-2 standard, to implement the compression of video and audio signals. It consists of video compression unit, audio compression unit and PowerPC system controller. In video compression unit, IBM's MPEG-2 video compression chip set is used in our system, which compresses the moving picture in I-picture, P-picture or B-picture with bit rate at 400K~40Mbps in MP@ML of MPEG-2 standard. It supports RGB or YUV 4:2:0, YUV 4:2:2 chromatic formats, and maximum resolution is 720*576(PAL) or 720*480(NTSC). To carry out the function of video compression, four logical blocks, which are video input block, video compression block, compressed data output block and logical control block, are included in this unit. The output of this unit is video elementary stream (ES) conformed to MPEG-2 standard. In audio compression unit, the TMS320C31 is used to compress audio signal. We take advantages of high speed of this DSP to implement the sub-band analysis filter and computation procedure of psycho-acoustics model. The output of this unit is elementary stream (ES) compliant with audio MPEG layer 2 standard. IBM's PowerPC 403GCX is used as a controller of our system. On one hand, PowerPC controls system to start. On the other hand, it picks up the elementary stream from the video and audio compression units, and converts them into the packetized elementary stream (PES) by adding PTS and DTS in front of ES. Then, PowerPC cuts PES packets into transport stream (TS)packets, which consist of fixed length-188 bytes. Finally, the prepared TS packets are sent to the TS output interface. The hardware structure and multiplexing of video and audio are emphasized in this paper. Meanwhile, MPEG-2 standard and its bright future application are introduced.
