Ag Nanoparticle Enhanced Flexible Thin-Film Silicon Solar Cells

英文摘要 | The plasmonic silver (Ag) nanoparticles (NPs), formed with the high temperature induced self-assembling of thin Ag films, are prepared on a back reflector (BR) in the n-i-p hydrogenated amorphous silicon (a-Si: H) solar cells. The self-assembly technique gives rise to a layer of uniformly distributed NPs on the BR surface. The Ag NPs are of an optimal size of 200 similar to 250 nm. We show that the plasmonic BR provides a high degree of light trapping as witnessed by increased diffusive reflection to 80% throughout the spectrum range of 600 similar to 1100 nm. With the plasmonic BR, a remarkable gain of 3.81 mA/cm(2) in the short-circuit current density (J(sc)) has been obtained without significant deterioration of the open circuit voltage (V-oc) or fill factor (FF) in the a-Si: H solar cells in comparison with the one using the specular BR. The excellent light trapping is attributed to the strong light scattering and low parasitic absorption of the self-assembly Ag NPs embedded in the BR. |
