A new method for lunar global topographic processing based on Chang'e-2 (CE-2) stereo images is investigated in this paper. 5 laser reflectors located on the lunar surface are used as absolute control points to produce a new global lunar terrain product, which is named CE2TMap2015 with three different resolution types of data of 7 m,20 m and 50 m. The Digital Elevation Model (DEM) data and the Digital Orthophoto Map (DOM) data of CE2TMap2015 both cover the lunar global surface with a coverage rate of 100%. The horizontal and elevation accuracy of CE2TMap2015 is evaluated and a detailed comparison between CE2TMap2015 and the same type of products is made, such as SLDEM2013, GLD100 and LOLA DEM. The results show that the lunar global terrain product in this paper can achieve a seamless mosaic within the entire lunar surface and high-precision absolute positioning. Compared with other global lunar terrain products, CE2TMap2015 has obvious advantages in terms of spatial resolution, global coverage, data continuity, absolute positioning accuracy, detailed representation of geomorphological structures, and so on.
