Effects of text structure and reading time on metacognitive monitoring

英文摘要Metacognitive monitoring plays an important role on learning from text. This study examined the effectiveness of text structure and reading time on metacognitve monitoring. The 2×2 between-subjects design was adopted. The independent variables were text structure (hypertext vs. linear text) and reading time (limited time vs. self-paced leaning time). After reading the text, subjects predicted text performance. Then they were given multiple-choice test. Finally subjects made the confidence judgments on test. Results showed that both text structure and reading time had distinct influence on metacognitive monitoring.
