We used 101 children (randomly drawn from kindergartens) to evaluate the influential factors between father-son relationship and children's social withdrawal behaviors. Subjects were tested by Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL) for social withdrawal behavior. In order to obtain more accurate relationship between father and son, the projective technique, i.e., Family Relations Indicator (F.R.I.) was used in this research, which was also the first issue in China. We tested the validity and reliability of F.R.I. with Home Observation for Measurement of the Environment for Children (HOME). Our findings show that father-son relationship correlated with children's social withdrawal behaviors significantly, especially in uxorilocal marriage families. In uxorilocal marriage families, father-son relationship plays medium adjusting role to children's social withdrawal behaviors.
