Sedimentary and structural characteristics of the Ruoergai-Songpan foreland basin

| 英文摘要 | The studies from the stratigraphic column of the Upper- and Middle-Triassic sediments in the Ruoergai-Songpan basin indicate that the fills are mainly continental clastics and there is only a section of the shallow marine carbonate rocks outcropped in the northeastern corner of the basin. In the northern part of the basin, there are fluvial and lake facies deposits. In the central part, there are mainly shallow lake facies sediments, and partly deep lake sediments. In the southern part, there are mainly deep lake facies sediments. The structures of the Upper- and Middle-Triassic strata are duplex structures, and the deformation strength is weakened gradually from north to south. According to Gao et al. (2006), the Ruoergai-Songpan basin is located on the basement of continental crust of the Yangtze plate, and on the foreland fold-thrust belt. Based on the tectonic setting, and sedimentary and structural characteristics, the Rouergai-Songpan basin was a foreland basin at the northern margin of the Yangtze plate in Triassic. |
