Petrogenetic diversity of continental subalkaline volcanic rocks: An example from the Dunhua-Mishan-Dongning volcanic belt.

英文摘要Ar-Ar radiometric dating, elemental and Sr-Nd-Pb isotopic analyses have been carried out on three sub-alkaline basalt suites from Hailang (Muchijiang), Jilin (Jixi) and Laoheishan (Dongning), northeast China. Characterized as calc-alkaline series, the Eocene Hailang basaltic andesites are enriched in Si, Na, K, Rb, Ba, Sr and LREE, but are depleted in Fe, Ca, Th, U, Nb, Ta and HREE. These rocks also display similar isotopic compositions ((206)Pb/(204)Pb = 16.56 similar to 16.66, (207)Pb/(204)Pb = 15.44 similar to 15.47, (208)Pb/(204)Pb = 36.80 similar to 36.95; I(Sr) = 0.704882 similar to 0.705564; epsilon(Nd) = - 4.05 similar to 2.29) to the potassic volcanic rocks from Wudalianchi. It is suggested that the Hailang lavas were derived from relatively thick lithospheric mantle which had been modified by slab-released metasomatic fluids. Miocene tholeiites from Jilin show no depletion in Nb, Ta but display enrichment in Ba and Sr. Their Sr-Nd isotopes are similar to those of the Samoa basalts, indicating the involvement of EMII components in addition to the common asthenospheric source. Late Miocene tholeiites from Laoheishan are characterized by low No and K contents, modest enrichment in LREE and no anomalies in Nb and Ta. Their isotopic compositions resemble those of Miocene alkali basalts from Jinpohu, indicating a predominant derivation from the asthenosphere, with some contributions of the enriched EM1-type lithospheric mantle. The source of the Cenozoic magmas in NE China therefore changed from an enriched mantle component in the Eocene to a depleted mantle component in the Miocene. The diverse geochemical characteristics of Cenozoic sub-subalkaline volcanic rocks from NE China thus provide some clues to the petrogenesis of the continental tholeiites.
