英文摘要 | The dynamic fracture process of multiple cracks is investigated, with focus on the interaction between the crack systems. The samples are made by glass and marble and shaped as thin plates. The different styles of crack systems are pre-produced in the plates. The fracture processes of the crack systems under uniaxial are observed by using the method of perspective. In our experiments, it is found that there are great difference of fracture process between rock and glass. It can be observed that the later period of dynamic interaction between the crack systems comes through the evolution of micro-cracks in rock, whereas the phenomenon can not be observed in glass. The original reason of micro-crack evolution is the inhomogeneity of stress field of the crack systems. The whole pictures of dynamic evolution of different styles of crack systems in marble are shown, for the first time and the mechanism of deformation and failure of rock containing crack systems is revealed directly. It is shown that the evolution processes of different geometry styles of crack systems are obviously different in experiments. It is also shown that part of the micro-cracks close when the micro cracks nucleate. The layered pictures of local fractures are obtained by using CT of industrial micro-focus of x-ray source. It is demonstrated that the pictures of micro-cracks in a two dimensional model are in fact the superposition of scatter transmission of layered micro cracks. therefore, there are great differences of the micro-cracks pictures between that described by the two-dimensional model and the reality. In order to eliminate the difference, it is necessary to study three-dimensional fractures. The experimental results show that: (1) a crack (fault) cannot stop the propagation of a fracture. (2) There are strong interaction between the crack (fault) as a barrier and the pre-existed crack. In such way the strength of the sample is reduced by almost one magnitude. The significance of above results in understanding the behavour of earthquake (including mining shock) faults is discussed. |
