Oscillations in the photodetachment cross section of a two-centre model

英文摘要 | We study analytically the photodetachment cross sections of a two-centre negative ion system based on an extension of the photodetachment model of H(-). The photodetachment cross section formulae are derived and found to be strongly oscillatory. We study in detail the dependence of the cross section on the distance between the two centres, photon energy and the laser polarization direction. Closed-orbit theory is extended and used to study the origin for the oscillations in the cross sections. We also derive the oscillatory photodetachment cross section averaged over the orientations of the two-centre system. This study reveals the connection between the oscillations in the cross section and a detached-electron orbit. |
