Continuous Blood Pressure Estimation Using Photoplethysmogram Relative Intensity Ration

英文摘要 | Continuous blood pressure (BP) estimation using pulse transit time (PTT) has shown lots of promise for cuff-less and high resolution measurement. However, the accuracy must be improved before widespread application. This study proposes a novel indicator for BP estimation from photoplethysmogram (PPG), PPG Relative Intensity Ratio (PRIR), which reflects the rate of BP variation with time. A finite partition procedure upon time is conducted to extract PRIR, thus a multiple linear regression model is derived to estimate BP. Experimental results on 41 healthy subjects showed that the proposed approach had an excellent accuracy in BP estimation with a correlation coefficient of 0.665 and a mean error of -0.035 ± 4.412 mmHg for systolic BP, and 0.626 and 0.002 ± 2.468 mmHg for diastolic BP. The accuracy of the estimated SBP and DBP with the proposed method was significantly improved compared with PTT and PPG Intensity Ratio (PIR) method. Therefore, proposed method provides the potential approach for continuous and cuff-less BP measurement. |
