Prediction and Evaluation of Space Collapse for Typical Covered Karst

英文摘要 | Lots of countries in the world suffer from karst collapse hazard.Based on thorough investigation of relevant literatures on karst collapse, a typical geological model for covered karst is established. The karst collapse mechanism of this typical geological model is summarized under the situation when groundwater fluctuating and long-time raining. Furthermore, a synthetical method on karst collapse space prediction is proposed,which involves physical detection, engineering investigation, physical mechanics of rock and soil experiment, numerical simulation, monitoring and appraisal of karst disaster. Then, this method is applied in karst area in Huangshi, Hubei province of china to verify its feasibility. A mass of concealed karst caves were revealed in the rock and soil interface through physical detection and engineering investigation. Then combined with rock and soil's indoor test results, numerical simulation on karst collapse is carried out by utilizing finite difference program FLAC3D, and the calculation results demonstrated that, compared with the seepage flow of ground water, the softened clay covering will cause the ground surface subside more seriously due to rainfall permeation. Finally with reference to the building-fissure monitoring outcomes, karst collapse is liable to happen during rainy season in this research area, and the concrete spatial extent are distinguished. It is shown that this karst collapse space forecast method is feasible; the prediction results are in good agreement with observations; and the proposed research method can be popularized as the mainstream approach on karst collapse prediction. |
