An experimental study on shear mechanical behavior of heterogeneous discontinuities under saturated condition

英文摘要 | In this paper, with shear device, shear tests of heterogeneous discontinuities under various moisture states and different normal stresses are investigated, the shear deformation and strength of heterogeneous discontinuities are analyzed, the shear strength criterion of heterogeneous discontinuities is set up. The study results show that: 1) shear deformation curves of heterogeneous discontinuities present an elasto-plastic residual relation. Compared with specimens under natural condition, saturated specimens have a smaller elastic region and enter into peak region or plastic region earlier. 2) No matter what moisture state is, shear stiffness increases with normal forces. The shear stiffness of saturated specimens is lower than natural specimens' under the same normal stress, especially for a low normal force. 3) The shear failure mode can be divided into grinding-damage or grinding-crush. Water makes obvious effects on the strength parameters of rockmass discontinuities, especially on inner friction angle(phi). 4) Computing model can provide reliable values for the shear strength parameter of even joints with no filling of a real geotechnical project only if the computing parameter is selected reasonably and the real force-bearing state of rockmass and natural water state are taken into consideration. |
