英文摘要The compositions of municipal solid waste are very complicated. The engineering properties of municipal solid waste are different from common soil. The settlement of roadbed in landfill occurs not only during the course of filling but also after the course. When calculating the settlement of roadbed in landfill, we should consider the factors such as their own gravity load, the traffic load, biological degradation and chemical reaction of refuse etc. All these causes that lead to the settlement of roadbed are analyzed, and the method in calculating the settlements are introduced. The results showed that the surface subsidence was still large after the closure of MSW landfill as creep and chemical changes caused by biological degradation, and it is usually more than 1.0m. The settlement cased by the road traffic (relative subsidence) was not large, and generally it was less than 30cm. In order to reduce the impact of settlement on the roadbed, the embankment of the road in landfills usually be replaced with lightweight materials, so that the roadbed has more strength and stiffness. It was recommended that we should reserve a certain height of embankment, in order to ensure that the roadbed would not be below the surface height of the entire site for producing a relative settlement.
