英文摘要The strength behavior of unsaturated soils is important to evaluate the stability of slopes underwent the change of water content. The shear strength behavior of silty clay with different dry densities and water contents was explored by ring shear tests. The experimental results show that the shear strength of the silty clay decreases with the increment of water content at the same dry density. The change of shear strength of clayey soils with a low dry density shows the behavior of the normal consolidation soil. The one with the high dry density shows the behavior of the overconsolidation soil. The overconsolidation effect falls off when water content increases. The cohesion and friction angle of the soils decreases with the increment of water content. The effect of water content on the parameters of shear strength is greater than the one from the dry density when water content is more than 18%.
