Fabricating 3D BT-BN/epoxy Composites with High Dielectric Performance

英文摘要Abstract—Polymer-ceramic composites with high permittivity (εr) have been explored as dielectric materials applied in advanced electric devices. The dielectric loss, which mainly comes from ferroelectric hysteresis and electrical conduction, is usually at an undesired high level. To solve this problem, a new kind of composite system composed of interconnected three dimensional barium titanate and boron nitride (3D BT-BN) scaffold and epoxy was designed and investigated in this study. A significant improvement of the εr and energy storage density (Ud) was achieved. The permittivity is increased from 3.4 for pure epoxy to ~49 at 100 Hz for the composite with filler volume ratio of 21.2 vol%. And, a high breakdown strength (Eb~499.89 kV/cm), high energy density (Ud~190.04×10-3 J/cm3) and charge-discharge efficiency (~70.07 %) are achieved when the composites contain 7.2 vol% of 3D BT-BN. The enhanced energy efficiency was attributed to the high thermal conductivity of the composites. The out-of-plane thermal conductivity of composites was strengthened from 0.8 to 2.3 as the filler loading increased from 7.2 vol% to 21.2 vol%.
