英文摘要This paper gives a guess-and-determine attack against polar bear, which is one of the candidate stream ciphers of estream. we chose three different cleartext groups under different assumptions, and only considered the first three cycles in each group. some values in each group were recovered through known constant values and some relations in the previous and current groups. we recover the initial state of polar bear completely with time complexity o(2(36.86)). in this respect, our results are much better than that of the two recent attacks whose time complexities are o(2(79)) and o(2(57.4)) respectively. our attack is based on known plaintext scenario which requires knowledge of three different cleartext groups, where the first 12 bytes of each group cleartext need to be known.
