Rapid fabrication and reaction process of zrb2-sic composites by spark plasma sintering process

英文摘要Using the mixture of zr, si and b4c powder as starting materials, the zrb2-sic composites were synthesized under 30 mpa at 1450 degrees c for 3min by spark plasma sintering technique (sps). dense zrb2-sic composites with the relative density 98.5% were successfully 112 fabricated. the vickers hardness (hv10) of the composites was 17.2gpa, and the fracture toughness was 4.3 mpa center dot m(1/2). the reaction process of the composites was also investigated by analyzing the samples at different moments. the results show that when sintering temperature reaches 950 degrees c, intermediate phase zrxsiy can be observed by xrd, meanwhile the main phase is zrb2. the amount of zrxsiy, decreased with increasing of sintering temperature until 1250 degrees c, at which temperature zrxsiy could not be observed by xrd.
