Polymorphism in an ionic pair 2-aminopyridyl-Co-II complex: Role of N-H center dot center dot center dot Cl hydrogen bonds and pi center dot center dot center dot pi interactions in tuning the columnar packing

英文摘要 | The reaction of 2-aminopyridine with cobalt dichloride hexahydrate in solution leads to the isolation of a novel ion pair complex (1). Blue blocklike or plate crystals were obtained upon crystallizing the compound from an acetone solution with or without the presence of nickel(II) acetate dihydrate, which were confirmed to be its two polymorphs. X-ray structure analysis shows that phase A crystallizes in the monoclinic space group Cc, while phase B crystallizes in the triclinic space group P (1) over bar. The two polymorphs display interesting and remarkably different molecular packing features via strong hydrogen bonds and pi center dot center dot center dot pi stacking interactions. The one-dimensional 1D) columnar pi center dot center dot center dot pi stacking mode distributed with charge is very significant, and the arrangements are remarkably different for the molecular orientation and interatomic distances in the two phases. Both N-H center dot center dot center dot Cl and C-H center dot center dot center dot Cl hydrogen bonds exist in the two polymorphs, which play an essential role in constructing the resulting three- or two-dimensional (3D or 2D) hydrogen-bonded networks. |
