英文摘要 | The accuracy and robustness of Lagrangian-Eulerian method on benchmark problem of viscoelastic flow through complex geometries was tested. The test is performed by directly comparing the numerical predictions of flow through a 4:1 planar contraction with the experimental observations in order to ensure whether the method is physically correct. The one-mode Phan-Thien and Tanner (PTT) constitutive model is used in the present calcuation. Profiles of both velocity and stresses are obtained at different sections of the steady flow, and compared with laser Doppler velocimetry and flow-induced birefringence data given by Quinzani et at. for a polyisobutylene/tetradecane(PIB/C14) contraction flow at a Deborah number De = 3.0. Overall, the simulation has reproduced the experimental results with good accuracy,the agreement between the numerical predictions and the experimental reports is fairly well. |
