Two deep-sea Calliotropis species (Gastropoda: Calliotropidae) from the western Pacific, with the description of a new species

| 英文摘要 | Examinations of materials deposited in the Marine Biological Museum, Chinese Academy of Sciences (MBMCAS) revealed two deep-sea calliotropid species. Calliotropis infundibulum (Watson, 1879), trawled from an abyssal plain in the South China Sea (17 degrees 15' N, 111 degrees 20' E) at a depth of 1238 m, is a new record of the species for Chinese waters. Calliotropis yapensis new species, collected at the Yap Seamount (8 degrees 55' N, 137 degrees 48' E), at a depth of 1119 m, is distinguished from its congeners by having a globular shell (heightAvidth ratio=0.95), sculptured with granular spiral cords and prominent, densely spaced axial ribs. Phylogenetic analysis using 633 bp of the cytochrome oxidase c subunit I (COI) gene of Calliotropis yapensis new species supports its systematic placement within the genus. |
