英文摘要The Jiangjia Gully is one of the gullies the Xiaojiang River basin where largescale debris flows occur frequently destructively. This spoon-shaped basin is characterized by its bare bed rock, broken mountain, steep topography, variable climate with the distinct wet season, and concetrative and intense rainfall. It is quite flows. A rainfall of more than 20mm can make debris flows burst out in the watershed. There is a big store of loose materials, which total 75 million cubic metres or so. The solid materials of debris flows are mainly generated by gravitational erosion. The are affected by the process make up 47% of basin area. The slope of the valley walls generally exceeds 20°. The longitudinal gradients of the gully bed are 7-8% in the lower reaches and 16-35% in the upper reaches respectively. In addition, the exsiting forest area is only 4% of the basin area as a result of serious deforestation. All these favours the generation of debris flows. In this gully, the collecting process of runoff is the process of debris flow flormation. The maximum flood discharge before the occurrence of each debris flow is 2-4 m3/s.
