英文摘要 | Propagation of ultrasonic guided waves within the wall of straight pipe is becoming increasingly understood; however, guided waves within the wall of a curved section of pipe are more complex and less well known. Propagation of a guided wave through pipe bends results in signal distortion and mode conversion. This paper presents simulations that focus on the phenomena arising when guided waves with different central frequencies travel through bends with different angles and radii. A selection of the results is experimentally validated. It is shown that a destructive interference of guided wave signals happens when the combination of the bend radius, bend angle, and central frequency of the incident guided wave signal is favorable.
