Superdeformed band terminations in the A=40 mass region

英文摘要The superdeformed or highly deformed band terminations in K-8, Ar-36, S-32,S-34 and Cl-35 have been studied by the configuration dependent cranked Nilsson-Strutinsky approach. Some possible superdeformed band terminations were predicted, such as the pi(d(5/2))(-2) (f(7/2))(2) circle times v(d(5/2))(-2) (f(7/2))(2)([22,22]) configuration in S-32 with deformation about epsilon(2) = 0.61 and gamma approximate to 0 degrees at spin I = 0 - 10, especially the superdeformed band terminates at I = 19 and about epsilon(2) = 0.39 (with epsilon(2) = 0.50 when I <= 9) in K-38, and all of them are favorable for observation. The tendency of these bands in energy with spin increasing favors the band termination, so superdeformed bands terminating would be smooth. The calculated superdeformed band is in good agreement with observed one in Ar-36 confirms that the calculated results are reliable.
