The production of C-9 beam in the secondary beam line of the HIMAC facility and its potential application in cancer therapy

| 英文摘要 | The emitted particles from a beta-delayed particle decay beam must enhance biological effects in the region of interest and such a radioactive ion beam may be useful in cancer treatment. To test this therapeutic purpose of beta-delayed particle decay beams, C-9 beams were produced in the secondary beam line at HIMAC for the first time. The thickness of production target and degrader to yield a C-9 beam with higher production rate and purity was optimized and the momentum distribution of the produced C-9 beam under the optimal condition was measured. For upcoming radiobiological experiments, a uniform irradiation field for the produced C-9 beam was made by means of wobbling magnets. |
