Investigation of nuclear deformation in excited Fr-213

英文摘要Angular correlations between gamma rays and fission fragments were measured for the reaction O-16 + Au-197 at 132MeV. The probability of giant dipole resonance gamma rays emission relative to the spin axis of the compound system was extracted by using the correlations, which give direct information about nuclear deformation. Large anisotropy observed in the gamma rays energy region of the compound nucleus giant dipole resonance demonstrates unambiguously a deformed shape of the Fr-213 compound system at excitation energies of 92MeV. The fission coincidence gamma ray spectra were fitted consistently in terms of the statistical gamma ray decay of the compound system and excited fission fragments. The giant dipole resonance parameters obtained from the fits were then used to compute the gamma ray angular distributions with respect to the compound nucleus spin axis for prolate and oblate shapes. The comparation between the calculation and the experimental results at excitation of 92MeV show that the Fr-213 nucleus is in the transition from a collective prolate to a noncollective oblate shape.
