Identification of Tl-180 alpha decay

英文摘要With the use of a fragment mass analyzer, the alpha decay of Tl-180 was identified in Mo-92 bombardments of Zr-90. At least three alpha transitions were observed but on the basis of the data obtained it was not possible to conclude if they originate from one or more levels in Tl-180. In the same irradiations a new alpha group was also identified in Tl-179(m) decay. Based on energy and half-life systematics, it appears that Tl-179(m), in contrast to the isomers in heavier odd-A Ti nuclei, is not the h(9/2) intruder level but rather the h(11/2) proton state.
