英文摘要In this paper, the alpine habitat and eco-physiological characteristics of alpine plants were summarized. A preliminary study on the cycle of growth and development of Cypripedium flavum, and a further discussion on it's adaptability to the environment were carried out. At last, an outlook to the exploitation of C. flavum was also given. 1. Characteristics of growth and development of C. flavum The C. flavum populations studied in this paper are at the alpine of 3300 meters high in Zhongdian county, north-west of Yunnan, During their growing period, the temperature is low, 10-20 centigrade, and the air humidity is high, 80-90%. Studies on the characteristics of growth and development of C. flavum were carried out by field and anatomic investigations. The results show that C. flavum has the typical pre-formation characteristics of alpine plants. A reproductive cycle lasts 3 growing seasons. Leave initiation and flower differentiation are completed in the fist two growing seasons respectively, and flowering, pollination and fruiting in the last season. The buds on the rhizome were subdivided into four types: the first-year bud, immature second-year bud, mature second-yearl bud and perennial dormant bud. There are two second-year buds on the top of the rhizome before winter, which differentiate in the June of the ante-year. Sometimes these two buds are at the same size, but usually one big and one small. The big one is mature second-year bud and small one immature second-yearl bud. Both types of second-year buds are mixed buds, having all the structures of a flower, but in different development state. At the outside of the base of the second-year bud, two annual buds differentiate in June of the same year. They will develop into the second-year buds in the following year, at the same time new annual buds will emerge as the old did. There are perennial dormant buds on the nodes of the rhizome except the top node. The size and structure of perennial dormant bud are the same as the immature second-year bud's. Usually, in the following year the mature second-year bud will develop into a plant and flower; and immature second-year bud will be in dormant state and become perennial dormant bud. The perennial dormant bud will keep its dormant state. But usually the immature second-year bud and perennial bud grow out the ground. Early pre-formation is likely result in a delay in the response of plants to the environment changes. But plants with pre-formation characteristics have many adaptive forms. C. jlavum adapts to changes of environment by its four different development types buds and development abort. 2. Problems needed to resolve in research and development of C. Jlavum Based on the development progress of C. flavum, an exploitation plan of C. Jlavum was given: producing mature second-year buds at its native place. But we are faced with anther problem: how to reproduce the second-year buds which have flowering ability with a rapid speed. As far as the intention of exploitation is concerned, the skills must be mature, stable, simple and easy to operate. Besides, we shouldn't always obviate the flowering problem. Ways to study the flowering conditions and improve the quality of flower should be designed by mastering the cultivation conditions and completely understanding the development and physiological background of C. flavum.
