中文摘要 | Al2O3/Fe2O3 composite-coated polyhedral Fe nanoparticles are prepared by arc discharging a bulk Fe-Al (4 wt.% Al) alloy. The nanoparticles form in a core-shell structure, with the size of the core being in the range 10-55 nm and having a shell of 2-4 nm thickness. Al and Fe atoms in the Fe-Al alloy form the shell of Al2O3/Fe2O3 composite, which prevents the nanoparticles from a further oxidation. Fe nanoparticles retain their crystal habit because few Al atoms are introduced in the course of the arc discharge. The shape of most Al2O3/Fe2O3-coated Fe nanoparticle is hexagonal or quadrilateral. A saturation magnetization of J(s) = 142.8 A m(2)/kg and a coercive force of H-c = 53.57 kA/m were achieved for the nanoparticles. (C) 2004 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved. |
