The influence of porosity of magnesium die casting alloys on its mechanical properties

| 中文摘要 | With the density methods, the volume porosity of the die-casting specimens of magnesium alloys AZ91HP, AM50HP, AS41 and AE42 was measured. The relative tensile test showed that the ultimate tensile tensile test showed that the ultimate tensile strength sigma(b) and the total elongation delta(1) reduced with the increase of the volume porosity rho, but the yield strength sigma(0) was nearly independent of the volume porosity. The measuring results of porosity distribution with ultrasonic detector revealed that the fracture zone was along the section, which had more porosity than that of others at the specimen. It has been found through the metallography examination that the much porosity array in a layer microstructure and distribute in the direction of mould filling. The cracks may initiate and propagate with help of the porosity. The formation and prevision of porosity in die-casting were also discussed in the paper. |
