中文摘要In this paper, the polaron in a quasi-two-dimensional quantum well (QW) is studied by using a new variational method. A nonlinear differential-integral equation of wavefunction of the confined electron is given, and the effect on the wavefunction due Co the electron-phonon coupling has been considered in the derivation. Within this approach, the energy of the polaron and the corresponding electronic wavefunction can be obtained self-consistently from the differential-integral equation. As a typical example, the self-energy of the polaron ground state and the wavefunction of the electron are investigated for a GaAs/AlAs QW. It is shown that, for a relatively strong effective coupling, the polaron has a larger self-energy in comparison to a previous work where the authors used the unperturbed electronic wavefunction neglecting the effect due to the electron-phonon interaction.
