Effects of doping and temperature on nonlinearity of WO3 varistor

中文摘要In this paper, effects of some common additives, Bi2O3, Co2O3 and A(12)O(3), and temperature on nonlinearity of WO3-Na2CO3-MnO2 varistor have been studied. It is found that Bi2O3 is not helpful to improve nonlinearity of doped WO3. Doping of Co2O3 can improve nonlinearity, with alpha about 6 and breakdown field about 5 V/mm when the amount of Co2O3 is 1 mol%. For WO3-based system doped with 0.5 mol% Al2O3, the nonlinearity is improved significantly at 200 degrees C, and it is an ohmic resister at room temperature. The crystalline phases and microstructure of specimens are examined by the XRD and SEM microanalysis. It is assumed that the nonlinearsity of doped WO3 ceramics is determined by both grain boundary and WO3 grain. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science S.A. All rights reserved.
