Integrated assessment of river ecosystems on typical dam and water gate sections in the Huaihe River

英文摘要 | In order to investigate the influences of dams and water gates on the river ecosystems of the Huaihe River, the biological indexes were employed to assess the present status of river ecosystems on typical dam and water gate sections in the Huaihe River. The results show all reservoirs in the Huaihe River basin are in healthy status, and 64% of all studied river ecosystems is in sub-healthy condition or significant damage status. Additionally, the mutation spot of environment and ecosystems of the Huaihe River is found at the Linhuaigang Dam. The downstream of the Huaihe River after Linhuaigang Dam was polluted more seriously than the upstream. It is recommended that the union dispatch of water quantity and quality should be taken into account among dams and water gates in the whole Huaihe River systems to improve and restore the biological ecosystems of the Huaihe River. |
