Wind energy resources distribution and spatial differences of wind power industry in China

| 英文摘要 | Wind energy, a renewable energy resource, is one of the best prospects for energy development. While wind energy resources have obvious differences in spatial distribution and the development of the wind power industry in China has remarkable regional disparities, wind energy is abundant in China,. Based on the data of the wind energy resources and wind power industries in the 34 provinces (municipalities, autonomous regions), including Taiwan Province, we used the spatial analyst module and the visualization technology of ArcGIS and Photoshop 8.0, to analyze the spatial differences of exploitable wind energy resources in China and zoned the whole country into five types: extremely rich, rich, relatively rich, exploitable, and poor. By comparing the cumulative total of wind power's installed capacity in each province in 2006, we found that the wind power industry was primarily distributed in partly rich wind energy areas in northern China and the developed eastern area, where wind is relatively plentiful. Using the imbalance index model, we analyzed the imbalance between the wind power industry and the wind energy resources, gross regional product, electricity consumption, and gross industrial output value. Results show that the spatial distribution characteristic and rules of the wind power industrial development are obvious: (1) the wind power industry developed on the base of wind energy resources, but do not completely depend on it; (2) regional economic development level influenced the distribution of the wind power industry greatly; and (3) the development of the wind power industry had a close relation to the regional electricity consumption and the development level of heavy industry. |
