中文摘要dispersion of ru particles inside the cnt channels (ru-in) were realized by using a wet chemistry method. ultrasonic treatment and extended stirring were employed to aid the capillary action using rucl3 acetone solution as the precursor the confined catalyst had around 80% nanoparticles dispersed inside the cnt channels (ru-in) and the particle size is about 2-4 nm. for comparison, we prepared another sample by depositing ru particles on the outer walls of the same batch cnts as for ru-in. this was achieved by temporarily blocking the cnt channels with xylene and only the exterior surfaces were decorated with rucl3/aqueous solution. under controlled evaporation, almost all metal particles were deposited on the exterior surfaces of cnts (ru-out) and the particle size fell in a similar range as the ru-in catalyst. figure 1 tem images for ru nanoparticles dispersed inside the cnt channels (ru-in) and on the outer walls of cnts (ru-out). the reaction results showed that ru-out exhibited a higher activity in both ammonia synthesis and fischer-tropsch synthesis. the catalysts were characterized with tem, n2 physisorption, h2 chemisorption, temperature-programmed reduction, temperature-programmed surface reaction and co adsorption microcalorimetry. furthermore, first-principles calculations were carried out to compare the electronic structure of the ru clusters inside and outside of the cnt channels.
