Regional differences and their cause analysis of China's solar PV industry

| 英文摘要 | China's PV solar energy industry came into rapid development, but there are some differences in the development of different provinces. This article demonstrates the regional distribution of Chinese PV industry from the perspective of province using the data of 2009. The empirical results indicate that there are two clusters of PV power, one is the Northwest of China of which the core area is Qinghai province, the other is North China which takes Beijing and Hebei province as its core. The key factors of the northwest region are the advantage of natural resources and policy supports, while in North China the Olympic Games as an important supporting platform also with other state promotions are the main determinants. Besides, PV enterprises of China are mainly distributed in Yangtse, Zhujiang and Circum-Bohai-Sea Delta, what's more, there is a decline trend of regional distribution from coastal area to inland. Talents agglomeration and the improvement of research ability are the key factors in Yangtse and Circum-Bohai-Sea Delta which accelerate the extension of industrial chain, while traffic location and labor cost are the main drivers of the agglomeration of small and medium-sized enterprizes in Yangtse and Zhujiang Delta. The results of factors illustrate that efficiency of energy utilization, government policies, technology of the PV solar energy industry, electrical power and energy consumption market are the key determinants of regional distribution of the PV industry. At last, the 31 regions of China are divided into five categories according to the difference of contribution of the leading four factors. |
