英文摘要PURPOSE:To prevent a photosensitive body from deteriorating owing to the power setting of a semiconductor laser, to lower the frequency of clock pulses to a counter, and to reduce the cost by inhibiting the power of the semiconductor laser from being set during the scanning of the photosensitive body. CONSTITUTION:The counted value of the up/down counter 13 increases gradually and then the intensity of a laser beam from the semiconductor laser 1 increases gradually, so that the output voltage VM of an amplifier 11 rises. While the photosensitive body scans, a non-photosensitive body scan signal is ceased and an AND circuit 18 turns off to disable the up/down counter 18; when the photosensitive body scans while the semiconductor laser 1 is in a stand-by state, the semiconductor laser is not driven and its power setting is interrupted if incomplete. When the non-photosensitive body is scanned, the power setting of the semiconductor laser 1 is restarted.
