英文摘要Traditional distributed file systems do not provide clusters with strict single-system image, and cannot fully meet the cluster applications requirements, such as I/O performance, scalability, reliability, and availability. COSMOS is a scalable single-image file system designed for Dawning2000 superserver, a typical cluster system. This paper discusses the essential issues in designing cluster file systems, and presents our solutions to them with emphasis on COSMOS's novelty. Measurements are given to show the I/O bandwidth, scalability and overall performance of COSMOS. Based on our experience with COSMOS and initial performance measurements, we also point out the bottlenecks of the existing system and propose methods for improvement. (C) 2002 Elsevier Science B.V.
