英文摘要PURPOSE:To stabilize the oscillation frequency of a semiconductor laser and to improve the width of a spectral line by using as an external resonator a device transmits a part of light and by letting the transmitted light through an optical frequency discriminator. CONSTITUTION:In a semiconductor laser light source controlling apparatus B, the light La output backward from a semiconductor laser 1 is inputted into an external resonator 2. As the external resonator 2, a translucent mirror which transmits only a small part of the backwardly output light La an optical guide, one end of which is coated with a reflecting film of a high reflectance, is used. At the same time when the backwardly output light La is inputted into the external resonator 2, the external resonator 2 supplies a partially transmitted light Lb to an optical frequency discriminator. The partially transmitted light Lb is discriminated by the optical frequency discriminator 4 to be converted into an intense converted light Lc then to be converted into an electric signal Ea by a light receiving device 5. Then, an automatic frequency control circuit 6 changes the amount of current injected into the semiconductor laser At the same time, it also changes a phase of the light Lc returning from the external resonator 2 to the semiconductor laser 1 for stabilization of the frequency. By this apparatus, the oscillation frequency of the semiconductor laser is stabilized and the width of a spectral line is improved.
